Four years ago today, on October 31st, 2019, I sat in a Toyota Camry with my friends Brooke and Julia. I had been praying and learning and searching the Word to discover more about Holy Spirit. I was hungry to embrace God in his fullness! I had decided that I wanted to be baptized in the Spirit, so we spent time in prayer and worship and confession. They anointed me with oil and laid their hands on me and asked God to fill me with the Holy Spirit and empower me for deeper intimacy with him and love for others. The purpose of fresh filling of the Spirit is always out of love and surrender to the Lord and empowerment for ministry.

Since then, I have often asked God to fill me with more of his Spirit and to take me deeper. He’s answered my prayers every time. I’ve seen more than I ever imagined was possible, because nothing is impossible with God. Jesus sent his disciples out to heal the sick, cast out demons, bring good news to the poor, feed the hungry, preach repentance and proclaim the kingdom. As I continue to surrender to Him, Holy Spirit continues to open my eyes to opportunities to partner with Him. When we walk in the power and authority of Jesus, we see God move. Jesus says, “ask anything in my name and it will be given to you” (John 14:13), and James says, “we have not because we ask not” (James 4:3). I want to be a daughter who asks for more from her Father. Who wants deeper relationship with Him, who moves in faith, and who operates in step with the Lord. Holy Spirit wants to empower and use us. Scripture says in 2 Peter 1:4 that we get to be ‘partakers’ in his divine nature! And that we can be ‘filled with the fullness of God’ (Ephesians 3:19).

Over the last four years, God has continued to reveal himself to me in incredible ways. He’s all-powerful and good in every way. He never withholds and he’s not a God who hides from his people. If we seek him, we will find him. Today I’m filled with gratitude and joy as I think about all that God has done in my life! Jesus came to give us abundant life, and it keeps getting better. If this pricks your heart and you want to learn more about the character of God and how we can embrace life with Holy Spirit, just reach out! I’d love to talk about the Lord with you. You matter to God, so you matter to me!

  1. Yes, Kara! So so good!!! “How much more will the Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:13) – We will always get as much of our loving and wonderful father as we want! May you continuously be filled with His Spirit!
